Announcements for July 31 & August 7

Crossroads Bible Church Senior High Student Ministry July 31—August 7, 2011 Announcements

Sunday School, 10:30—11:45AM in the Dungeon:
July 31: Sharon Gelnett (Joshua 10), worship being led by Ross Morales.
August 7: Ian Cook (Joshua 14), worship being led by Parker Smith (the last time he’ll lead since he’s off to college after this!)

CBC’s YEAR OF GONZO STUDENT ART UPDATE:
July’s project: “Truth Telling”—PROJECTS DUE ON JULY 31!
TURN THEM IN TO CHARLIE’S OFFICE ON THAT SUNDAY!
We’ll put them in the art gallery after August 7.

August’s project: Newspaper Black-Out.
Simply take a sheet of newsprint, black out all the words and/or pictures you don’t think are needed and create a work of poetry/art for display. You can go to http://www.austinkleon.com/category/newspaper-blackout-poems/ for ideas & examples.
These projects are due on August 28.

The last Twitterfic Wednesday is on Wednesday, August 3…
…although we can’t wait until then to tell you what it is. We’ll go see the movie “Cowboys & Aliens” starring Harrison Ford. Since movie times aren’t posted yet, we’ll Twitter/Facebook the mid-afternoon time we’re going to see at 10PM on Tuesday, August 2. You’ll need money for admission and whatever snacks you’re buying!

Team Ireland Update:
The team arrived on time & in good spirits to DFW on July 26 after a fantastic two-week ministry in Northern Ireland & the Republic of Ireland! There is a team reunion (parents invited, too) on Tuesday night, August 9, at Parker Smith’s house (303 Highland Ct., Double Oak, 75077

Parents & students: If you aren’t friends with Brent on Facebook you’ll want to do that ASAP—if you are, you should be getting these announcements in your message box every Thursday. And, you can follow BrentMcKinney on Twitter). For students only, if you aren’t getting text updates from Elli (she sent out a test text a few weeks ago so if you didn’t get it, you aren’t on it) you’ll want to send her your name and number!



In-home small groups will begin at CBC on August 24…we’ll begin in area homes on August 31. We’ll be looking for host homes for some of our small groups, so if you’re interested in being a host home for a semester, e-mail Brent@crossroadsbible.org.

The FINAL WATERISBASIC.ORG grand total for the school year was $1,516! After speaking with the director of the organization, he wants to see if we can complete the giving for the well, so we’ll continue our once per month giving in Sunday School (WE START ON AUGUST 28) and we’ll have a few new opportunities thrown in! CBC Blood Drive: Sunday, July 31, 8AM—1PM. If you’re able to give, it’s a perfect time to help out by donating! Sign ups for times in the foyer on the main level on the desk between the stairwells.
