Announcements for the weekend of August 14

Crossroads Bible Church Senior High Student Ministry August 14, 2011 Announcements

Sunday School, 10:30—11:45AM in the Dungeon:
Brent McKinney, teaching on Vision, Week #1.
For the next two weeks, we’ll be discussing the direction the CBC student ministry is heading, and our thoughts about where & how you fit within the “bigger picture of ministry” using your gifts, talents & opportunities.

In-home small groups will begin at CBC on August 24…we’ll begin in area homes on August 31. We’ll be looking for host homes for some of our small groups, so if you’re interested in being a host home for a semester, e-mail Brent@crossroadsbible.org.

CBC’s YEAR OF GONZO STUDENT ART UPDATE:
If you have July’s project, “Truth Telling”—and didn’t turn it in, we got a little behind on putting them up in the gallery, so you can still turn one in by today. We will have them up this week!
August’s project: Newspaper Black-Out.
Simply take a sheet of newsprint, black out all the words and/or pictures you don’t think are needed and create a work of poetry/art for display. You can go to http://www.austinkleon.com/category/newspaper-blackout-poems/ for ideas & examples.
These projects are due on August 28.

(over, please)
To make sure you’re in the informational loop: Parents, send an e-mail to Brent@Crossroadsbible.org and ask to be added to the e-mail list (please include the gender and year of graduation of your students). Parents & students: If you aren’t friends with Brent on Facebook you’ll want to do that ASAP—if you are, you should be getting these announcements in your message box every Thursday. And, you can follow BrentMcKinney on Twitter). For students only, if you aren’t getting text updates from Elli (she sent out a test text a few weeks ago so if you didn’t get it, you aren’t on it) you’ll want to send her your name and number!

The FINAL WATERISBASIC.ORG grand total for the school year was $1,516! After speaking with the director of the organization, he wants to see if we can complete the giving for the well, so we’ll continue our once per month giving in Sunday School (WE START ON AUGUST 28) and we’ll have a few new opportunities thrown in! More information available in Sunday School, and you can check our progress on the Facebook page “Water is Basic-CBC”

Want to hear first-hand how the mission trips from CBC’s Impact 2011 went? Please make sure to attend one of the main services on August 21! This summer’s trips to Arizona, Ireland, Poland & Africa will be featured, as well as a preview of the upcoming trip to Haiti!

DID YOU MISS THE PARENT’S MEETING held on May 29? You can grab the notes at www.cbchighschool.blogspot.com and get the video of the first hour at http://www.vimeo.com/24486607 (if you need a password it’s abc123). Sorry, but the camera died and missed the last 10 minutes or so!

*Don’t forget to pray for Johan in Columbia and Guerson & Kerlande in Haiti!
