High School No Agenda Retreat Information
January 14--16, 2011.

I. Final Payment Information:

The suggested payment to reserve a spot was $50. If you purchase a spot before Nov. 14, the balance is $75. If you purchased a spot after 11/14, the balance is $95. Final payment is due before you board the bus. However, it easier for our accounting process if you make payment on or before Tuesday, January 11.

II. Transportation Information:

Due to unexpected demand, we’ve ordered an extra bus. They will depart the CBC south parking lot at 1:30PM on Friday afternoon, January 14. Please arrive & check-in at 1PM. It’s wise to eat lunch before you get here.

If you plan to leave a vehicle in the Crossroads parking lot for the weekend, please park underneath the basketball goals. This will allow those attending services on Sunday morning/evening to use the spaces closer to the building.

Eat lunch before you arrive, please.

We should arrive at Pine Cove Shores shortly after 3PM.

The bus will pick up at Pine Cove on Sunday evening at 7:30PM. We should return to the Crossroads south lot somewhere between 9:30PM and 10PM on January 16. Please arrange to have your parents pick you up promptly.

III. What to Bring:

Bible, pen, notebook. Pillow, sleeping bag/bedding (Pine Cove supplies a bunk & mattress only), towel. Appropriate clothing for 3 days (please check the weather before you leave as we’ve had rain, snow, heat and all sorts of Texas weather experiences in years past). Toiletries.

Please keep in mind that mobile phone service at Pine Cove is sporadic. We ask that you use your mobile phone (texting or talking) as little as possible during this weekend, and recommend that you use it only in your cabin.

Mp3 players (such as iPods) are welcome, but please use them sparingly. Also keep in mind that we cannot guarantee the security or safety of any players/speakers/etc.

A note about musical instruments: If you bring one, please make sure it’s in a secure travel case and you’re sensitive to those who wish to sleep who are in your cabin. In other words, please play them only in “common” areas around the camp.

The cabins have 8 bunk beds, but one will be for a leader. ABSOLUTELY NO sleeping on floors or having more than 8 people per cabin. Each cabin has central heat/air and private restrooms.

Keep in mind that there can be other groups staying at the camp for the weekend. Please be considerate when using the gym/fields/dock/canoes/camp athletic equipment, etc. Also be aware that we cannot secure the cabins or monitor them during the day.

The swimming pool will NOT be open, nor will we have access to the game room. No jumping in the lake…and, as an aide to the kitchen staff, please do NOT enter the dining hall for any reason ½ hour before meals for set up and stay out for ½ hour AFTER meals to allow for clean up.

If you have special dietary needs, please contact Brent via e-mail so we can let the Pine Cove staff know. In the past, they have been able to accommodate diets for gluten, lactose and diabetic issues as long as they know a few days in advance.

The mobile number for “after-hours” emergencies ONLY is 903-216-7498.

There is a medical care facility (“Doc-in-a-box”) less than 4 miles from Pine Cove for any injury needing such attention. Additionally, Tyler’s full-service hospital is less than 10 minutes away. Parents will be notified of any and all injuries, no matter how minor.

V. Spending Money:

No spending money is needed. However, there is a camp store that offers souvenir t-shirts , hats, etc. In addition, there’s a snack shop open for 3 hours on Saturday for sodas and candy. If anyone would like to ride the zip line (running from 2-5 on Saturday afternoon, weather permitting) there is no cost. Many students bring $25.
